"A Louisville-based nonprofit organization is spotlighted in the current issue of People magazine.
Blessings in a Backpack, which provides backpacks filled with food to hungry schoolchildren every Friday to help them through the weekend, has teamed up with the celebrity and entertainment mag for the yearlong initiative PEOPLE FIRST: Help Feed a Child.
After reviewing more than a dozen platforms, initiatives and charities, People chose Blessings and plans to highlight the program in multiple editorial pieces, as well as public service announcements and a feature in People en Espanol magazine.
The Feb. 13 issue, on newsstands now, highlights program coordinator Tama Clapper, who supervises 10 Blessings in a Backpack schools in Gillette, Wyo.
Blessings in a Backpack, founded by Louisville native Stan Curtis, estimates the partnership with People will allow it to feed about 25,000 more children this year, according to a press release, up from 55,000 kids to 80,000."
